Was ist Gestalttherapie?
Sometimes we sense that something within us isn’t quite right – but we can’t fully explain why.
Our feelings may seem unclear, relationships repeat themselves, or we function on the outside while feeling stuck on the inside.
This is where Gestalt therapy begins.
A Humanistic Approach
It was developed, among others, by Fritz and Laura Perls and is part of the humanistic approaches to therapy. It views the person as a whole – including emotions, thoughts, bodily sensations, and relationships. The focus lies on the here and now: what you are currently experiencing, feeling, and noticing. At the same time, past experiences are also considered – especially when they continue to shape your present experience and relationships. Gestalt therapy is not only about talking about problems, but about experiencing yourself more directly and understanding yourself more deeply. This happens through dialogue and through gentle, experience-based exercises (“experiments”) that allow new perspectives and inner experiences to emerge.
Exploring Emotions More Deeply
Often, emotions do not appear in their full depth right away. For example, sadness may also contain anger – and behind anger there can be vulnerability.
As these inner layers become more conscious and are given space, greater clarity, self-connection, and new ways of relating to yourself and others can develop.
